Tagamõisa (German Taggamois ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural community of Saaremaa (until 2017: rural community of Kihelkonna ) in the Saare district . Until 1998 the village was called Tagala .

Population and location

The village has three residents (as of December 31, 2011). It is located on the Tagamõisa poolsaar peninsula of the same name (German Hundsort ), 36 kilometers northwest of the island's capital Kuressaare .

history

In 1562, the last Teutonic order governor of the region enfeoffed Heinrich Wrede with land. This is how the Nemmal court emerged . He was called the Taggamois since the late 17th century .
