Pajumõisa (German Pajomois ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural community of Saaremaa (until 2017: rural community of Kihelkonna ) in the Saare district .

Population and location

The village has 26 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located 28 kilometers northwest of the island's capital Kuressaare .

history

In the middle of the 16th century the Pajomois or Pahimois court was established . It was the economic center of the local Teutonic Order Office . The last private owner before the expropriation in the course of the Estonian land reform in 1919 was the Baltic German Carl Johann Freytag von Loringhoven.
