Veeremäe is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island of Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural community of Saaremaa (until 2017: rural community of Kihelkonna ) in the Saare district . Until the re-establishment of the rural community Saaremaa, the place was called "Veere" and was renamed to differentiate itself from Veere , since both are now in the same rural community.

Population and location

The village has twenty inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located 35 kilometers northwest of the island's capital Kuressaare on the east coast of the Tagamõisa peninsula .

The steep slopes north and south of the village center offer a wide view of the Buch Tagalaht . The place offers good swimming opportunities in summer.

port

Between 1960 and 1963 a small fishing port was built in Veeremäe. It is also ice-free in winter. Today, in addition to fishing boats, motor boats, yachts and small sailing ships can call at the port.
