Hiievälja (German Heidefeldt ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural community Saaremaa (until 2017: rural community Leisi ) in the Saare district .

Population, location and history

The place has nine inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located 38 kilometers northeast of the island's capital Kuressaare .

The village was first mentioned in 1561 under its German name.
