Hindu (Saaremaa)

Hindu is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island of Saaremaa . It belongs to the Saaremaa rural community (until 2017: Orissaare rural community ) in the Saare district . Hindu is not to be confused with Sõrve-Hindu , which is also on the island of Saaremaa and was called Hindu until 2017.
Population and location
The village has fourteen inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is right on the Baltic Sea near the Tinuri nina headland .
Personalities
The Estonian writer, linguist and translator Jaan Jõgever (1860–1924) was born in Hinu .
