Uduvere

Uduvere (German Udufer ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural municipality Saaremaa (until 2017: rural municipality Lääne-Saare ) in the Saare district .
Population and location
The village has 44 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2016). The area is 7.22 km².
The place is eleven kilometers northwest of the island's capital Kuressaare .
history
In 1261 a battle between the native Estonians and the Teutonic Order took place near Uduvere . The place itself was first mentioned in 1592 under the name Vdeuer . Uduvere has been documented as a village under the name Uddofer since 1645 .
