Põlluküla is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island of Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural community Saaremaa (until 2017: rural community Valjala ) in the Saare district . Põlluküla should not be confused with Põlluküla , which is also on Saaremaa Island.

The village has 21 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011).

Graves

During excavations on the Tuulingumäe hill between 1995 and 1997, two rectangular burial sites ( tarandkalme ) were uncovered. One comes from the pre-Roman Iron Age of Northern Europe (between 500 BC and 50 AD), the second from the time of the Great Migration, i.e. H. between 450 and 600 AD. At least thirteen people were buried in the latter grave.
