Praakli (German Brackelshof ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural municipality Saaremaa (until 2017: rural municipality Lääne-Saare ) in the Saare district .

Population, location and history

The village has 90 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2016). Its area is 3.15 km².

Praakli is located five kilometers northeast of the island's capital Kuressaare . From the middle of the 16th century until 1653 the area belonged to the noble Baltic German family Brackel . The Estonian-speaking and the historical German name of the place are derived from it.
