Viidumäe nature reserve

Viidu-Mäebe is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island of Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural community of Saaremaa (until 2017: rural community of Kihelkonna ) in the Saare district . Until the reestablishment of the rural community Saaremaa, the place was called "Mäebe" and was renamed to differentiate itself from Mäebe , as both are now in the same rural community.

The village has only two inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011).

Viidumägi nature reserve

The place is part of the 18.7 square kilometer Viidumäe nature reserve ( Viidumäe looduskaitseala ). It is particularly known for its plant species Rhinanthus oesilensis , Dactylorhiza osiliensis, and the carnivorous Piguicula alpina . Another specialty is the vanilla scented Gymnadenia odoratissima with its delicate purple flowers.
