Linnuse is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island of Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural community Saaremaa (until 2017: rural community Leisi ) in the Saare district .

Population and location

The village has eight residents (as of December 31, 2011). It is located 36 kilometers northeast of the island's capital Kuressaare . The Purtsa bog (Purtsa soo) extends northwest of the town center .

history

Linnuse emerged as an independent village in the 1930s when it was separated from neighboring Purtsa .
