Paatsa (German Paatz ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural community Saaremaa (until 2017: rural community Mustjala ) in the Saare district .

Population and location

The village has eight residents (as of December 31, 2011). It is located 28 kilometers northwest of the island's capital Kuressaare .

Castle

Probably from the 11th to the 13th century there was a fortified settlement near Paatsa. It was surrounded by a low wall of sand. Archaeologists have found remains of former homes there since the 1960s.
