Sarah Fischer (born November 9, 2000 ) is an Austrian weightlifter .

Life

Sarah Fischer lives in Rohrendorf near Krems and attended the Sports Performance Center (SLZ) in St. Pölten . She is a member of the Union Krems athlete club and is trained by her father Ewald Fischer, her brother David is also a weightlifter. Among other things, she was U17 world champion, U20 European champion, five-time vice European champion and four-time vice world champion in the youth field.

At the European Weightlifting Championships in Bucharest in 2018 , she won three medals in the general class up to 90 kilograms, bronze in each of the snatch and jerk and silver in a duel behind Georgian Anastasiia Hotfrid . In April 2019 she won the bronze medal in pushing and dueling at the 2019 European Weightlifting Championships in Batumi in the class up to 87 kg. At the women's state championships in Vösendorf in May 2019, she became three-time Austrian state champion , and at the 2019 world championship in Thailand she reached tenth place in a duel. In October 2019, she won three silver medals at the Under-20 European Weightlifting Championships in Bucharest.

In 2018 she was nominated for Athlete of the Year in the category Newcomer of the Year and was chosen in second place behind David Gleirscher .
