Sarah Hirini MNZM (born December 9, 1992 in Feilding , New Zealand , born Sarah Goss ) is a New Zealand rugby player who is a member of both the New Zealand national rugby union team and the national rugby 7 team. In 2017 she received the ANOC Award .

Career

Hirini learned rugby in her hometown at Feilding High School. From 2009 she ran for Manawatu. After playing for Bay of Plenty in 2016, Hirini returned to Manawatu.

Hirini made her debut in 2012 for the Black Ferns Sevens , with which she won the Rugby 7th World Cup in 2013 and the silver medal at the 2016 Olympic Games . In 2016 she played her first international match for the Black Ferns . Hirini won the 2017 Women's Rugby Union World Cup with the Black Ferns . At the 2018 Commonwealth Games and in the 7-Rugby World Cup in 2018 , she won the gold medal in each 7-rugby.

Hirini was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit in June 2019 . In the same year, she played her 200th game in the World Seven Series as the first woman.
