Matthias Badenhop

Matthias Badenhop (born February 15, 1979 in Kiel ) is a German economist and political official ( FDP ). Since June 28, 2017 he has been State Secretary in the Ministry for Social Affairs, Health, Youth, Family and Seniors of the State of Schleswig-Holstein .

Life

After graduating from the Kiel School of Academics (1998) and the following military service (1998–1999), Badenhop began studying economics with a focus on foreign trade and growth theory . He completed this between 1999 and 2005 at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel . Subsequently, he was a doctoral student at the Institute for Political Science there until 2009, where he received his doctorate on the subject of "Global Oil Markets and the Foreign Policy of the United States of America".

After completing his dissertation in 2009, he initially worked as a consultant for labor, social affairs, health, agriculture, the environment and renewable energies of the FDP parliamentary group in the Hessian state parliament , before moving to the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Health . There he worked until 2013 as the head of the department, the strategic social planning department and head of the integration office under Prime Minister Peter-Harry Carstensen . From 2014 to 2017 he was head of the social, youth, education and sport department in the Ostholstein district .

On June 28, 2017, Matthias Badenhop was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry for Social Affairs, Health, Youth, Family and Seniors of the State of Schleswig-Holstein , led by Minister Heiner Garg , as part of the formation of the Günther cabinet . In this function he is also a deputy member of the German-French friendship group of the Federal Council .
