Sarandí Grande is a city in Uruguay .

geography

It is located in the Cuchilla de Maciel in the western part of the Florida department in sector 10 . A few kilometers away is Pintado to the south and Puntas de Maciel and Goñi to the north .

history

The town was founded in 1874. In 1906, Sarandí Grande was given the name " pueblo ". In 1928 the place received drinking water through the construction of an artesian well .

Infrastructure

A railway line and Ruta 5 run through Sarandí Grande . On June 6, 1996, the radio station FM 90.9 began broadcasting in the city.

The population of Sarandí Grandes is 6,130 (as of 2011), of which 2,973 are men and 3,157 are women.
