Sarezer
Sarezer is the name of a son of Sennacherib in the Old Testament .
etymology
The name Sarezer ( Hebrew שַׂרְאֶצֶר sar'ezer , ancient Greek σαρασαρ sarasar ) was created by shortening an Akkadian proper name (shar-uzur). This means " protect the king". Related are the names Belshazzar ( Bel-Shar-uzur "Bel protect the King") and Nergal-Sarezer ( Nergal-Shar-uzur "Nergal protect the King")
biography
According to 2 Kings 19.37 EU, Sarezer was a son of Sennacherib. Together with his brother Adrammelech he murdered in 681 BC. His father in the Nisroch temple in Nineveh . Then both had to flee to the land of Ararat , their brother Asarhaddon became king.
Sarezer, the messenger
Sarezer is also the name of a messenger named in Sach 7,2 EU , who is sent in the fourth year of King Darius I from Bet-El to appease the YHWH .
