The Saroukh el-Jamahiriya ( Arabic صاروخ الجماهيرية, DMG Ṣārūḫ al-Ǧamāhīrīya  , rocket the masses Republic ') is a car - a prototype of Libya .

Beginnings

On the 30th anniversary of the revolution , the "Libyan rocket", a green five-person sedan, allegedly equipped with the latest electronics, appeared. A prototype was presented to the public at the Organization for African Unity's annual meeting in September 1999.

For the 40th anniversary of the Libyan Revolution, the Italian TESCO TS (since 2009: Tesco Go SpA) developed the vehicle according to the specifications of Muammar al-Gaddafi : Only materials of Libyan origin should be used; the design of the vehicle, however, was allegedly designed by Gaddafi himself. Like the previous model, the prototype was a luxury class sedan , equipped with airbags, shock-absorbing vehicle parts and bumpers as well as a sensor system and was touted as the “safest car in the world”.

The vehicle is said to have been given a 230  hp V6 petrol engine with a displacement of three liters; this engine is said to have given the vehicle an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in seven seconds. A price of around 50,000 euros was planned for series production, the prototype cost 2 million euros.

The whereabouts of the prototype after the civil war in Libya is unclear.
