Sascha Grabow
Sascha Grabow (born January 15, 1968 in Wolfsburg ) is a German globetrotter, author and photographer who visited every country in the world between 1987 and 2016. Grabow is a Getty Images photographer.
biography
Sascha Grabow was born in Wolfsburg. His father is an English and history teacher, his mother a watercolor painter. He spent his childhood in Waiblingen , Baden-Württemberg , and attended elementary school in Untergruppenbach , later the Herzog-Christoph-Gymnasium in Beilstein .
to travel
Grabow hitchhiked to Italy alone for the first time at the age of 17 in order to be able to train tennis there all year round. Since he did not speak Italian, he began to focus on learning the local language whenever he traveled to a new country over the next 30 years.
To finance his travels, he worked as a tennis coach at times. There he met sponsors who made the first tournament tour around the world possible for him in 1992 and 1993, where he also secured his first world ranking points. On the ITF Future Tour and the ATP Challenger Tour he stayed in the main draw without a win. His best placement was 920th place.
He spends an average of eleven months a year traveling. In 2016 he visited the last of the 193 UN states.
