Sachal Sarmast
Sachal Sarmast (* 1739 in Daraza , Pakistan ; † 1829 ), also Saccal Sarmast , Abdul Wahab Salahuddin Faruqi , Sacal Sarmastu , Sachal , Sacal Sarmastu or Ashkar is a classic Indian poet and philosopher of Sindh .
Life
Sachal Sarmast was born as Abdul Wahab Farouqi in Daraza in 1739. He had many other names too, such as Sakhal. He wrote poems in 7 languages, mostly in Sindhi . He used this pseudonym in his poems. Sachu means true . Sachal Sarmast literally means true mystic .
Sarmast's father died when he was a child. He was later raised by his uncle, Pir Khawaja Abdul Haq I, who also became his spiritual master. He married his cousin, who died two years later. He did not marry again. It is said that he never left Daraza, the state from then.
Sachal poetic works were sung by local singers in Sindhi and Saraiki ; his shrine is in the village of Daraza , near Ranipur , Khairpur District , Sindh , Pakistan .
