Saturnino Arrúa Molina (born April 7, 1949 in Itá ), also known by the nickname Nino (a nickname of his first name ), is a former Paraguayan football player and later coach .
career
Arrúa began his football career in the youth division of his home club Sportivo Iteño . In 1964 he moved to the youth of the capital club Cerro Porteño , where he received his first professional contract in 1966 . In 1967 he made his debut in the first team, in which he soon became a regular. He is widely regarded as the greatest talent to emerge from the Cerro Porteño Club's youth division. Arrúa won the Paraguayan football championship three times with his long-time club . He also scored the most derby goals against the large and at times seemingly overwhelming city rivals Club Olimpia . Overall, Arrúa was successful in these duels eleven times, seven times in games in the Primera División and four times in the Copa Libertadores .
In October 1973 Arrúa moved to the Spanish Primera División , where he was under contract with Real Zaragoza from 1973 to 1979 . His most successful season was the 1974/75 season , in which Real Saragossa not only became runner-up behind Real Madrid , but also humiliated the Spanish champions 6-1 on April 30, 1975. Arrúa himself contributed a goal to this runaway victory, making the score 4-1. In the following season Arrúa reached the cup final with his team, which was lost 0-1 against Atlético Madrid .
In 1979 Arrúa returned to Club Cerro Porteño, where he ended his active career in 1984 - after stopping at city rivals Club Guaraní and the Colombian club América de Cali . He made a total of 147 appearances for Cerro Porteño in the top division and scored 55 goals.
Between 1969 and 1980 Arrúa wore the jersey of the Paraguayan national team at least 27 times and scored at least 12 international goals.
After his active career, he coached various Paraguayan club teams in the first, second and third division.
