Saulius Gricius

Saulius Gricius (born June 27, 1963 in Kaunas , Lithuanian Soviet Republic ; † May 19, 1991 ibid) was a Lithuanian politician and environmentalist .

Life

After graduating from the 12th secondary school in Vilijampolė , he studied mechanics at the Kauno politechnikos institutas and became an engineer. He organized many actions in environmental protection and in 1987 founded the club for monument protection "Atgaja". In 1990 he was elected to the Kaunas City Council and from April 1990 was Deputy Mayor , responsible for environmental protection , urban economy and development as well as health .

In 1992 (after his death) Gricius was awarded the first Valdas Adamkus Prize (in environmental protection).
