Saulorn (Hohenau)

Saulorn is a district of the municipality of Hohenau in the Bavarian Forest , district of Freyung-Grafenau . The place has about 300 inhabitants.

Saulorn is located in the Bavarian Forest Nature Park between the two cities of Freyung and Grafenau and is about three kilometers from the municipality.
history
The first written mention of the village goes back to 1353. The place was named under the name Saularn shortly after the construction of Wildenstein Castle , when it was sold with other goods to Bishop Gottfried von Passau . At that time the estate is said to have existed for a long time. In 1401 the Buchberger mill and the place were mentioned again. In 1535 the estate and others were sold to Duke Ernst. After further sales, Saulorn came to the Passau bishopric in 1592 and later to the Wolfstein lordship . In 1609 there were already six tax-paying properties.
