Sauraha ( Nepali : सौराहा ) is a place in Nepal in the Chitwan District of the Narayani Administrative Region . It is separated from the Chitwan National Park by the Rapti River to the west of the village . The village is heavily influenced by tourism . There are numerous hotels, restaurants, internet cafes and shops available for tourists. There is an elephant rearing station nearby , which tourists can visit. In 2007 there were around 1500 beds for tourists. The number of tourists visiting the place varies greatly. The main reason are political strikes with roadblocks, which unsettle tourists and make access to the place more difficult.

In 1984 the village was flooded by the Rapti river.
