The district of Chitwan ( Nepali चितवन जिल्ला) is one of 77 districts in Nepal .
It is located with its capital Bharatpur in the Narayani administrative zone in the Inner Terai near the Indian border. The Narayani River forms the western boundary of the district.
A large part of the district in the south is taken up by the Chitwan National Park.
