The Syangja District ( Nepali स्याङ्जा जिल्ला ) is one of the 77 districts in Nepal . Its main town, Putalibazar, is in the Gandaki administrative zone .
geography
The 1164 km² district is located in the center of Nepal in the foothills of the Himalayas . Its district neighbors are in the north: Kaski , in the east: Tanahu , in the south Palpa and in the west: Gulmi and Parbat . The Kali Gandaki flows along the western and southern district borders while its left tributary Aadhi Khola crosses the district.

According to the census, the district had 289,148 inhabitants in 2011 and a population density of 248 people / km². The largest ethnic groups in this district are the Brahmins , Kshatriya , Gurung and the Magar .

Infrastructure
The Siddharta Rajmarg , one of the oldest highways in Nepal and named after the historical Buddha Siddhartha Gautama , has led from Pokhara via Putalibazar to Butwal and on to Siddharthanagar on the Indian border for more than 40 years .
electricity
The largest hydropower project in Nepal is in the Syangja district. The Kali Gandaki A power plant in Mirmi not far from Tansen has a total output of 144 MW (3 Francis turbines with 48 MW each). The power plant was put into operation in 2002.
tourism
Attempts are being made to further expand tourism in the region, especially trekking , rafting and climbing .
