The Sunsari District ( Nepali सुनसरी जिल्ला ) is one of 77 districts in Nepal and has belonged to Province No. 1 since the 2015 constitution .
Sunsari is located in the southeast of Nepal. The district extends over the plain in front of the Himalayas , the Terai , to the Indian border. The Koshi River forms the western boundary of the district. The district administration is based in the city of Inaruwa .
Administrative division
The following cities are located in Sunsari District:
Dharan and Itahari are cities with 2nd order city rights, while the other cities are so-called municipalities (with 3rd order city rights).
