The district of Siraha ( Nepali सिराहा जिल्ला ) is one of 77 districts in Nepal and has belonged to Province No. 2 since the constitution of 2015 .

history

The district was part of the Sagarmatha administrative zone until 2015 .

geography

Siraha lies in the Terai and extends 30 km from the first Siwalik chain in the north to the Indian border in the south. The two rivers Kamala and Balan delimit the district to the west and east.

Residents

The district had 572,399 inhabitants in 2001; In 2011 there were 637,328. In 2014 Siraha was one of the 15 poorest districts in Nepal with a Human Development Index value of just over 0.4. The literacy rate in the same year was just under 40%.
