Siraha is a city ( municipality ) in the Terai in the east of Nepal and is the administrative seat of the district of the same name .

The city center of Siraha is about 5 km from the Indian border on the east bank of the Kamala . In 2014, several neighboring Village Development Committees (VDCs) were incorporated. These were Hanumannagar , Khirauna , Madar , Malhaniya , Sarswar and Sukhachaina . The urban area now covers 67.1 km².

Residents

At the 2011 census, the city of Siraha had 28,442 inhabitants (13,839 male) in 5400 households. With the incorporated VDCs, the population was 59,037 (28,179 male) in 11,223 households.
