Lahan is a city ( municipality ) in the Siraha district in the eastern Terai in Nepal , about 160 km as the crow flies southeast of Kathmandu and 18 km north of the Indian border.
The city is west of the Balan River .
Lahan is on the Mahendra Rajmarg , the national east-west interurban road.
The urban area covers 147.5 km².

At the 2011 census, the city of Lahan had 33,653 inhabitants (17,286 men) in 6,479 households.
