Victor Dieterich

Victor Dieterich (spelling also Viktor Dieterich , born August 26, 1879 in Neuenstadt am Kocher , Kingdom of Württemberg , † December 8, 1971 in Stuttgart ) was a German forest scientist and university professor .

Life

Family, education and professional career

Victor Dieterich, the son of the postal inspector Carl Dieterich and his wife Marie, née Hochstetter, passed the Abitur at the Humanistic Gymnasium in Maulbronn in 1907 . After completing the military service as a one-year volunteer , he occupied until 1902 the study of forestry at the University of Tübingen , where he was in 1910 for Dr. rer. pole. PhD . During his studies he became a member of AMV Stochdorphia Tübingen .

After completing additional practical training in the Württemberg State Forestry Administration, Victor Dieterich was employed as a forestry assistant, in 1908 he was promoted to forestry officer and in 1914 to forestry master . In 1921 Victor Dieterich was entrusted with the management of the Württemberg Forest Research Institute in Tübingen , in 1925 he moved to the Württemberg Forest Directorate in Stuttgart , where he resigned in 1930.

Victor Dieterich also pursued a university career. After he had filled a teaching position at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen from 1918 to 1920 , he was given the full professorship in forest sciences at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg in 1921 . After leaving the Württemberg civil service, Victor Dieterich took on the same professorship at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 1930 , a position he held until 1947. In addition, Dieterich was in charge of the Institute for Forestry Policy and Forestry Management until his retirement in 1950.

Victor Dietrich married Maria Essig, born in 1908, with whom he had two children. He died in 1971 at the age of 93 in Stuttgart.
