The district Doti ( Nepali डोटी जिल्ला Doti Jilla ) is one of 77 districts in Nepal and has been part of the Constitution of 2015 the province Sudurpashchim .
history
Until 2015, the district was part of the Seti Administrative Zone .
geography
The district is located in the west of the country and extends over the Front Himalayas . It is bounded in the south by the Thuligad and Karnali rivers. The Seti River flows along the north-western border of the district, then makes an arc to the east-southeast and crosses the center of the district and passes the Dipayal Silgadhi administrative center . The river then forms the southeastern boundary of the district in the lower reaches. The Khaptad National Park extends in the northeast of the district .
Agriculture (including livestock and poultry) and homework are the major industries in the district. Agriculture is the main source of income for more than 90% of households.
Residents
At the 2001 census it had 207,066 inhabitants; In 2011 there were 211,746.
Nepali is the most widely spoken language, followed by languages like Kham-Magar and Tamang .
Gender discrimination is widespread in Doti. Women suffer from gender-based violence and domestic violence, gender-based discrimination in education, housework, nutrition, and various social and cultural norms. Women own neither land nor house in around 97% of households; they are less involved in economic activities than men and mostly limited to housework and agriculture. Discrimination against women also occurs in the form of the Chhaupadi practice of banishing women to a hut during their menstruation. Domestic violence related to excessive alcohol consumption also occurs in Doti.
