The Panchthar District ( Nepali पाँचथर जिल्ला ) is one of 77 districts in Nepal and has been part of the Constitution of 2015 for Province No. 1, .

Its main place is Phidim .

geography

The district has an area of ​​1606 km². In the east, the Singalila ridge forms the border with India . The Tamor River forms the north-western boundary of the district .

The district neighbors are Taplejung in the north and Dhankuta and Terhathum in the west . In the south Panchthar borders on Morang and Ilam and in the east on the Indian states of Sikkim and West Bengal .

According to the census, the district had 202,056 inhabitants in 2001 and the population density was 162.8 people / km². In 2011 there were 190,817 residents.
