Savin Hill is the name of a subway station owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the Boston borough of Dorchester in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It offers the same district access to Ashmont branch of the line Red Line .
history
In November 1845 a station called Savin Hill was built near what is now the underground station for the Old Colony Railroad . In December 1872, the company opened its Shawmut branch in Milton and thus also brought local rail transport to Savin Hill - in the course of this, the station building was relocated to its present location. In September 1926, operations on the line ceased and the Boston Elevated Railway , which bought the line, began upgrading the line. The underground station was rebuilt at the same location as part of the extension of the Cambridge-Dorchester tunnel and opened on November 5, 1927 together with the Columbia and Fields Corner stations . From 2004 to 2005, the subway station was completely rebuilt to make it barrier-free in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act .
