Savo Kostadinovski ( Macedonian Саво Костадиновски ; born May 30, 1950 in Gorno Botusche, Makedonski Brod District , Macedonia ) is a Macedonian-German writer.

biography

Savo Kostadinovski was born in the western Macedonian village of Gorno Botusche and attended primary school there and in Gostivar . He graduated from the Technical University in Belgrade by distance learning . As a teenager, he experienced the catastrophic earthquake in Skopje in 1963 : when his house in Gostivar collapsed, he suffered injuries to his leg. In 1964 he found accommodation in a boarding school in Belgrade, and as a child of a partisan he received a scholarship. In 1965 he moved to Slavonski Brod in Croatia, where he found work and devoted himself to poetry. 1968-1970 he did his military service in the Yugoslav People's Army in Karlovac and Zagreb . He has lived in Germany since 1971 and in Cologne since 1973, where he studied mechanical engineering at the local university of applied sciences.

He published his first collection of poems, summer in his homeland , in 1980 in the Macedonian publishing house for children's and young people's literature “Detska radost”. This was followed by other children's books and stories.

Travels all over Europe as well as to relatives in North America, India, Tebet, China and Australia gave him impulses for his writing. He writes poetry and prose for children and adults in Macedonian and also in German. Many of his poems were published in the literary magazine Die Brücke .

His work has been translated into several languages. Many of his anthologies have been published in Macedonia and Germany. He has received numerous prizes and awards, including the 1993 Literature Prize of the Macedonian Emigration Association.

Memberships

Savo Kostadinovski has been a member of the Macedonian Writers' Association (DMP) since 1989 and of the Association of German Writers (VS) since 1993 and of the Macedonian Journalists and Translators Association since 1995. He appeared with readings at cultural and multicultural events in numerous cities in Germany as well as in his home country Macedonia.
