Savyon Liebrecht
Savyon Liebrecht ( Hebrew סביון ליברכט, Born January 13, 1948 as Sabine Sosnowski in Munich ) is an Israeli writer .
Life
Savyon Liebrecht was born to Polish-Jewish parents who survived the Holocaust. She grew up in Israel and studied philosophy and literature in Tel Aviv . During her military service she began her literary activity. She wrote plays, television scripts, novels and short stories that have also appeared in German.
“ I had neither grandparents nor aunts nor cousins. But we pretended to be normal , says Savyon Liebrecht. To this day she does not know how many of her relatives were killed in concentration camps because her parents were silent. "
In 2007 her play Die Banalität der Liebe about Hannah Arendt and Martin Heidegger premiered in German translation in Bonn , before the world premiere in Tel Aviv: a political and moral love play. The Israeli composer Ella Milch-Sheriff set the banality of love to music , and the opera premiered in January 2018 at the Regensburg Theater .
In 1987 Liebrecht received the Alterman Prize in Israel , in 2002 she received the Amelia Rosselli Prize of the City of Rome. In Israel she was twice playwright of the year.
