The Sayer Nunatak is a 200 m (according to the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee 210 m ) high nunatak on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It rises south of Williams Point .
The first aerial photographs were taken between 1956 and 1957 during the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition . Scientists from the British Antarctic Survey explored it geologically between 1975 and 1976. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee renamed it in 1978 after Captain Sayer, skipper of the Brigg General Scott from Sag Harbor , New York , who between 1821 and 1822 for seal hunting in the waters the South Shetland Islands operated.
