The Scaled Composites 401 (internal name: Model 401 ) is an experimental aircraft from the US company Scaled Composites , which is intended to serve as a demonstrator for cost-effective composite material manufacturing technology . The construction of two aircraft is planned.
The prototype with the registration number N401XP had its maiden flight on October 11, 2017.

The Model 401 is a single-seat aircraft made of composite material, about 11.6 meters wide and 11.6 meters long. The low-wing aircraft has a V-tail , a pressurized cabin and a retractable landing gear . The curb weight is around 1800 kg. The drive consists of a Pratt & Whitney Canada JT15D with 13.54 kN thrust, the air inlet of which is on the back of the fuselage behind the pilot's cabin.
