ScanHaus Marlow , based in Marlow in the Vorpommern-Rügen district, is a manufacturer of prefabricated houses . It was founded in 1891 as a sawmill. Since 1992 the company has increasingly specialized in prefabricated wood construction.
history
Robert Kossow founded the company R. Kossow & Levermann in 1891 as a sawmill with an attached barrel factory. The business had a steady order book as the Marlow-based dairy had an ongoing need for churns . Carl Kossow led the company until it was expropriated in 1953. As part of the Rose Action , the company was nationalized without compensation on February 10, 1953 and Carl Kossow was imprisoned. The family emigrated to Sweden in the 1950s.
During the state management, the company mainly produced wooden frames for pieces of furniture under the name: Holzwerke Ribnitz-Damgarten , Möbelkombinat Nord , operating part living space and VEB Ribnitzer upholstered furniture .
After the reunification in 1990, the Swedish-born Friedemann Kunz, a great-great-grandson of the company founder Robert Kossow, returned to Marlow with his family and in 1992 took over the ailing state-owned company from the Treuhandanstalt . At that time, 45 employees were working in the company and made a loss of around one million marks . The business model was fundamentally changed and the import of Scandinavian prefabricated houses began, three of which were sold in 1991.
In 1992 the company switched to in-house production and in the first business year three self-produced prefabricated houses were sold. At the end of 2005, an almost three-year investment phase was completed, during which almost five million euros flowed into the Marlow location and into new model houses. In 2007, another office complex was built, in the building called the “architect's house”, the consultations with customers take place, and there is also a sports center here that can be used by the workforce and the residents of Marlow.
In 2008 the company 's own 4-star Recknitz Valley Hotel was opened, which is located opposite the factory premises in Marlow. In 2013 the hotel complex also had its own brewery, the “Marlower Brewery”.

The prefabricated house manufacturer ScanHaus Marlow is the main sponsor of the Association for Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports MV eV and supports the regional association financially in securing its diverse and complex sports. ScanHaus Marlow and the association have initially agreed on a two-year partnership.
ScanHaus Cup
The ScanHaus Cup in Marlow marks the beginning of the cycling calendar of the regional cycling association every year and thus joins the nationwide “bike on” campaign at the start of the popular sport events of the Association of German Cyclists. In 2019, around 600 participants and over 3000 spectators took part in the event.

ScanHaus Marlow has been a premium sponsor of the Rostock Seawolves since the 2016/2017 season .
