Scapania apiculata is a liverwort species of the order Lophoziales .

features

The plants are three to five millimeters long and yellow-green. The leaves are divided up to half into two entire, pointed lobes. The leaf keel is straight or curved. The lamina cells have strong, triangular corner thickenings. Each cell contains five to eight oil bodies . The brood bodies are red-brown, unicellular and arise on the leaf tips and the tip of flagella-like shoots.

Distribution and locations

The species has sub-arctic-montane distribution and is restricted to Europe. In Germany it occurs in the Berchtesgaden and Bavarian Alps as well as in the Allgäu . It grows on rotten softwood.
