The Lophoziales are an order of leafy liverworts .

The order is circumscribed purely in terms of molecular genetics, its representatives have no morphological features that distinguish them from the representatives of other orders. The families used to be placed in a much more extensive jungermannial order.

The order is placed in the parentage Jungermanniane within the subclass Jungermanniidae in the class Jungermanniopsida . According to molecular genetic studies, the families of the order are grouped into two sub-orders:
