Pest is a 2008 British computer-animated short film directed by Marc Craste .

action

A hare stands in the sunshine in a large meadow. He examines the flowers around him with a magnifying glass, enjoys the surroundings like other rabbits and finally lies down by a tree to enjoy the sun. Suddenly he notices a flock of birds quickly passing by, and in the distance sees a huge, gloomy cloud that is rapidly approaching. Horrified, he realizes that the meadow will shortly be covered with a dark sea of houses. While the skyscrapers are being pulled up with ropes by other animals, mountains of rubble fall onto the meadow. The hare hastily breaks off a branch from the tree and picks up other things from the meadow before the area is covered by a pile of rubble and rubbish.

Now the rabbit also lives in an inhospitable, gloomy room in one of the skyscrapers. His only hope is the tree branch that he planted in a tin can and watered regularly. He is writing a book in which he reports on the time of the meadow. He has planted cultures of the meadow in small jars. One night, unnoticed by him, small, bright globules float from his tree into the area. The gelatinous balls nestle in the houses and piles of rubble, where they slowly begin to grow. The hare, on the other hand, regularly goes to the mountains of rubbish in front of the big city and visits the now withered tree. One day he puts a potted twig in front of the door of a rabbit who, like the other animals in town, lives dejected in the anonymous skyscraper, which he has cut from his little tree. The green inspires hope in the rabbit. However, the hare's sapling dies and the hare becomes discouraged. At night he cannot sleep and is suddenly woken up by noise and glaring light. The gelatinous balls have now assumed huge dimensions and break free. Floating, they turn out to be giant jellyfish, which the rabbits of the big city pick up with their tentacles and transport them inside. The hare begins to run to the jellyfish with its dead tree, but they have already moved away. He collapses on the scrap in front of the big city and the tree falls from his arms. Suddenly tentacles descend to him and take him and the tree up. When the rabbit wakes up, he's lying on a large, sun-drenched meadow. He is in the jellyfish and can see other jellyfish through the jellyfish, but also the gloomy city. In the meadow he finds his little tree that has now been planted and is regenerating. The rabbit was also able to save herself in the jellyfish. From the structure, in turn, it rains dandelion umbrellas on the city, which is soon covered by a white carpet.
