The Schöcklkalk is a metamorphic limestone that originated in the Devonian and is mainly found in the area around the Schöckl .

description

Schöckl consists of approximately 55% calcium and 44% carbon dioxide , which is why he very verkarstungsfähig is what the numerous caves and many other karst formations in the Raab and Weizklamm show. It has a pronounced bank , later it was unfolded and subjected to a metamorphosis due to great pressure , in which the last fossils disappeared from the rock and the lime became a pure, highly metamorphic lime, which can almost be described as marble .

Due to the unfolding , numerous caves and ravines could form in the then groundwater area , today's Hochstradner level (approx. 700 m above sea level).
