geography
To the west lies the agricultural region of the Altmark , to the east the border to Brandenburg and the restricted military area of the Klietz military training area . The Haidgraben runs through the village .
history
The Schönhauser Damm is a former estate owned by Otto von Bismarck . In 1940 a trek from Brigidau in Galicia set out for what was then the German Reich . The land reforms in East Germany in 1946 made it possible for these families to settle on the former estate. A memorial stone was erected for these 31 families.

The settlement is directly connected to the western capital Schönhausen (Elbe) by a road. To the north-east of the village, federal highway 188 leads to Klietz. The place is connected to this street via a junction.
The Berlin-Lehrter Railway and the Berlin – Hanover high-speed line are south of the town . The Schönhauser Damm station is located on the Berlin-Lehrter Railway, but it has not been served by passenger trains since 1992.
There is also a circular cycle path through the town.
