The military training area Klietz is a training area (TrÜbPl) of the Bundeswehr in Schollener Land .

location

It has a size of about 90 km² and is located near the village of Klietz . About two thirds of the TrÜbPl is located on the territory of Saxony-Anhalt and about one third on the territory of Brandenburg .

history

In the time of National Socialism

From 1934 to 1945, WASAG produced explosives for the military using hundreds of deported forced laborers in the field. The area was initially used for testing and shooting ammunition. From 1936 until the end of the Second World War, the production quantities were 24,000 tons per year.

In the history of the GDR

The company's facilities were dismantled by the Soviet Union after the end of the war. From 1948 accommodations for the barracked people's police of the GDR were built on the area . From 1956 to 1990 the TrÜbPl was mainly used by the National People's Army of the former GDR, which set up an artillery training center there, and by troops of the Group of the Soviet Armed Forces in Germany (GSSD). Most recently, the Military Scientific Institute of the Military Reconnaissance of the National People's Army , Missile Department 19 and some training facilities of AZ-19 of the East German NVA were stationed there.

After the turning point

From 1990 the location was taken over by the German Armed Forces . The local military training area commandantur located there in addition to the TrÜbPl Klietz, also the military training areas Lehnin , Altengrabow and Oberlausitz .
