As early as the 16th century, a swampy pond ( Pfuhl ) with a barn ( barn ) was known under the name Schaurenpfuhl or Schirapfuhl . From 1783 a brick factory with a house was in operation, as clay was being dug on site. During this time the living space was named as the Schürer brickworks . At the beginning of 1900 the brick factory was closed and demolished because it was no longer competitive with the large steam brick factories. After this time Schüren became popular as an excursion destination and idyllic place to live.
