history

The building at Karl-Heyer-Straße 12 is the Löbejün rifle house built in 1822 . The building was built on behalf of the Löbejün Rifle Guild in 1699 . Due to the volume of the firearms , the building was erected outside the village, near the Hallesches Tor. With the development of the military , the rifle guilds became clubs and the rifle houses became club houses and inns . A cinema has been located in the building since 1925 , which later moved to another building. The Soviet military administration banned all rifle clubs in 1945 and the building became oneVolkshaus . In 2008 there were considerations to set up a primary school in the building , but this was not implemented. Today the building stands empty and continues to deteriorate.
