In the 2004 season of the Swiss Bundesliga in chess , Basel BVB and Niederrohrdorf fought head-to-head for the title, and thanks to the victory in direct comparison, the Basel team had a team point advantage in the end. The defending champion ASK Winterthur had to be content with fifth place. From the 2. Bundesliga was chess club Birsfelden / Basel Both ascended who claimed easily as a third party, however, had to descend the Club d'échecs de la Chaux-de-Fonds .

Promotion game to the 1st Bundesliga

Schwarz-Weiss Bern and Bianco Nero Lugano, the winners of the two second division seasons, qualified for the promotion game . The competition took place in Lugano on October 9th . Lugano just won 4½: 3½ and was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga.
