Federal Chess League 2006 (Switzerland)

In the 2006 season of the Swiss Bundesliga in chess , the defending champion chess club Birsfelden / Beider Basel won all competitions and was thus superior champions. Valais was promoted from the 2nd Bundesliga, who easily held their ground in fourth, while Lugano Bianco Nero was relegated . For the last time the Bundesliga was played within a calendar year, from the following season onwards it was played in the winter half-year. Promotion game to the 1st Bundesliga

The promotion game between the two winners of the second division seasons, NN Bern and St. Gallen, should take place on October 7th in Bern . However, since St. Gallen did not play, NN Bern won without a fight and thus rose to the 1st Bundesliga.
