Shahinshahr ( Persian شاهینشهر), also Shahin Shahr , is the capital of Shahinshahr and Meymeh administrative district in Isfahan province . In 2016 the city had over 173,000 inhabitants. The city is located north of Isfahan and was the first planned city in the country.
location
The city is located in the middle of the central mountain ranges of Iran east of the Zagros Mountains. It has an average altitude of 1662 meters with a slope of 16%. It has a dry climate with very little rainfall. When it rains, the water quickly evaporates or sinks into the ground.
history
Shahinshahr was Iran's first master-planed satellite city in the 1960s and is located about 15 miles north of Isfahan, Iran's second largest metropolitan area and its historic capital. The city was once home to the American School of Isfahan , which was closed as part of the 1979 Iranian Revolution .

The Köppen-Geiger climate classification system classifies the climate as semi-arid (BSk). The average annual temperature is 15.5 degrees.
economy
Shahin Shahr is known in Iran for its excellent educational institutions and is ranked 2nd nationwide, a legacy of the first class schools originally built. Shahinshahr currently employs many people from government organizations such as the National Iranian Oil Company and a variety of educational organizations. The majority of the population is middle class and works in a number of industries including the military, refining, aerospace manufacturing, and typical office and retail jobs.
