Miloš Fišera

Miloš Fišera (born February 17, 1950 in Vrchlabí ) is a former Czechoslovak cyclist and world champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Fišera started out as a skier, but soon switched to cycling. He became a member of the club in the club RH Plzeň , but had problems with his coach Jan Kubr and went to the club Jiskra Kolín .
At the UCI World Cross Country Championship in Prague in 1972 , he was on the podium of a world championship for the first time by winning the silver medal. He was the first Czechoslovak cross-country racer to win a medal for his country among the amateurs . Fišera won the world championship race in Tolosa in 1981 . A year later he defended his title in France . He started ten times at the Amateur World Championships, the last time at the Amateur World Championships in 1983, where he finished sixth. He won the national cyclo-cross championship five times (1973, 1977, 1978, 1979 and 1981).

Fišera wanted to become a professional driver without having to leave his homeland. His association did not allow him to do so until 1988, when he was already 38 years old. Between 1988 and 1990 he took part in the professional world championships three times, but could no longer win a medal. His best result was 13th place in 1988. In the last years of his career he started for the Concordia Reute association in Germany .
